The Summer Playlist: 2022

The Summer of 2022 will be remembered for these major events in music history: Fleet Foxes’ Shore Tour; a new album from Danger Mouse; a new single from Phoenix with an announcement that a new album is on the way; and, of course, a new album from Queen Bey. All of these events are reflected in this season’s playlist, which—thanks to vibes from Danger Mouse, Phoenix, and Beyoncé—leans decidedly dancefloor-worthy before kicking back into an alt/indie wrap-up. “But Emily,” you might say, “you mentioned Fleet Foxes yet I don’t see them on your playlist.” Oh, they’re there in spirit: Tim Bernardes, who opened for Fleet Foxes on the first leg of their tour, closes out the mix with my favorite song from his gorgeous new album (which is worth a listen from start to finish).

Now, please excuse me while I continue listening to this beauty on repeat.
